A Comprehensive overview of MMT Features
and Benefits
Functionality
Menu
MMT has an intuitive, easy to use menu.
Task Selection
MMT presents the tasks in order of
importance but allows the operator to jump to an alternative task if
required.
This is often the case for urgent orders or
when
attempting to select a suitable task for the end of shift or the
equipment available.
Task Grouping
MMT is document based. An operator
completes an entire document before proceeding to other tasks.
A MMT document can be either a single SAP
R/3 document (IDoc) or part of a SAP R/3 document.
Alternate Bar Codes
MMT supports an unlimited number of
alternate bar codes for material numbers, including manufacturer part
numbers.
Function Key and Operation
MMT makes minimal use of the keyboard,
preferring instead to scan bar code data wherever possible.
Handling Unit Requirements
MMT can operate with or without handling
units,
more commonly using material and quantity only. When
appropriate,
MMT uses a “licence plate” to provide SAP R/3
Handling Unit
functionality.
Avoids Relabelling
MMT does not require relabelling of material
to process it through the warehouse.
Add/Change/Delete
MMT provides
“Add/Change/Delete”. This is a MMT-only
concept that
allows operators to Add quantity by scanning, Delete quantity by
scanning, or Change the quantity using traditional techniques.
This significantly reduces picking errors.
Bin Order
Sophisticated bin sequences can be
implemented by MMT.
Multiple Document Processing
MMT can open multiple documents at once as
this is
ideally suited for picking large numbers of small mixed
orders.
See our Pick To Light page for more information.
Operator Selection / User Areas
MMT supports user areas that select
documents based on bin locations.
Multiple Passes at task
MMT provides the operator with many passes
at completing the line item.
Document Types
MMT allows documents to be dissected into
different types and placed on different menus so supervisors can better
manage their workflow by instruction operators to pick from different
MMT menu items. A user friendly version of queues.
Count in any order
MMT allows the operator to scroll up and
down
through all the line items in the document. It also allows
the
operator to “jump” to a particular line by scanning.
Expandability
RFID
MMT is enabled to print to RFID enabled
printers
and encode the RFID information. RFID and bar coding are
inherently supported by all TIG International products. TIG
International supports mobile RFID readers and is investigating where
fixed mounted RFID readers may provide logistics enhancements to the
MMT environment. The Business-to-Business model in Australia
will
very soon require RFID enabled Serial Shipper Container Code (SSCC)
labels. MMT supports these.
Pick-To-Light
MMT supports Pick To Light.
Allowing the
customer to use this sophisticated technology to greatly enhance
multiple order simultaneous picking.
Mobile Pick to Light
MMT supports Mobile Pick to Light, a cost
effective method where the lights are mounted on a trolley.
Factory Automation
MMT has developed communications technology
to
factory automation equipment as part of its Pick To Light
enhancements. As such the MMT product is capable of
communicating
with Programmable Logic Controller and serial interfaced devices such
as weighbridges, palletisers, bundy time clocks, conveyor control
gates, and other factory automation equipment.
Real world communications to factory automation equipment is already a
major player in logistics and fast moving consumer goods. TIG
International will bring this technology to the SAP R/3 environment
first, as we did with RF Terminal applications and Pick To Light
technology.
Architecture
Response Times
MMT guarantees sub second response time
whenever the MMT workstation is installed on the same LAN as the RF
terminals.
Off Line Capability
MMT can continue operating for several hours
when SAP R/3 is unavailable.
EAN-128 Support
MMT has full EAN-128 support, allowing the
operator to scan bar codes in any order and MMT stores all values in a
buffer. With MMT you require less scans.
SAP R/3 Connections
MMT uses limited SAP R/3 connections saving
your company significant resources.
UNIX / NT Workstation
MMT can run on either Windows NT or one of
the SAP
R/3 supported UNIX platforms. UNIX is recommended by TIG
International because of its greater feature set and inbuilt telnet
server capability.
Telnet Server Licences
MMT running on UNIX does not require telnet
server
software. User licences may be required if the operating
system
supplier demands.
SAPGUI to Telnet protocol conversion
MMT does not require any such protocol
conversion.
Middleware
MMT is not middleware. Middleware
simply
converts the fields of an IDoc to screen fields. MMT is a
fully
featured application with sophisticated user features and interactive
operator control. MMT is an application that communicates
with
SAP R/3. MMT is not “screen scraping” or
“field
mapping” middleware.
